I do lots of FRx training. I teach you FRx while together we develop reports on your live data. When we’re done, you have live usable reports. I usually spend 2 days onsite with you, sometimes three. I travel coast to coast and FRx and Management Reporter are all I do.
In 2 days of FRx training, this is a sampling of what you’ll learn:
- How to most efficiently navigate FRx
- How to create reports with drilldown capability
- How to view an existing report without regenerating it
- How to use a check total to ensure accuracy
- How to create departmental P&Ls
- The 2 methods to use when a report is out of balance
- How to create presentation quality reports
- Flexibility: the relationship between the row format and reporting trees
- How to snag demo reports to give you a headstart on a cashflow
- Using Excel to speed report creation
- Exporting to Excel so that each location, division, or department is on its own worksheet
- How to run multiple reports at one time, and the 4 catalog settings that are needed
- How to best deal with FRx’s archaic printing capabilities
- Electronic distribution of reports
- How to round a balance sheet
- How to export and archive a spec set
- How to create calculations and the easiest way to format them
- Most-used settings in the catalog and header
- What settings NOT to use in the catalog
- The two regular actions that will prevent FRx corruption
- Automating reporting unit selection when generating a report with a tree
- What access to give the CFO
- If needed, how to link to Excel to pull data into FRx
- If needed, the 3 tricks to creating a budget variance report
- If needed, how to consolidate companies
- If needed, how to create a trend report (January through December)
- If needed, how to create departments side by side
- If needed, how to create statistical calculations like dollars per unit
In short, I will make you an FRx expert on your own financials.
I start with a trial balance and convey the most-often used concepts and tricks, winding up with a bottom line net income with which to tie out the remaining reports. After the initial trial balance (about an hour), for the most part I let your users do the hands-on. The more hands-on you get, the more you learn.
My goal? To get you completely independent of consulting help.
At the end of two days you’ll have users trained and have some live reports finished.
Which reports will we complete? That’s up to you. You send me examples of the reports you want to complete, we discuss them, then I use those examples to teach. How far we get depends on the complexity of the reports and the size of the class. The smaller the class the faster the progress. Completing 4 to 7 reports is not at all unusual.
This training by its very nature is collaborative. I know FRx inside and out, and you know your company and what accounts need to go where. We work together to come up with accurate reports.
Here’s a link to the Most Popular FRx Reports in case you don’t have your reporting package hammered out yet.
If you’re interested, here’s what I need to know:
- What’s your FRx version? (Help>About 6.7.xxxx)
- What’s the experience of users (beginner, intermediate)?
- How many users are to be trained?
- Are there any specific issues you want covered?
- What reports do you want completed at the end of training? Be as specific as possible at this early stage of the game. Please send examples.
- How many Designer licenses do you have? (Admin>Organization, Maximum Users) This impacts the number of users who can be trained.
My review of these examples and our discussion is nonchargeable and without obligation.
Sounds like a no-brainer? I think so. It does cost a bit more than Essentials but you end up with accurate completed reports much more quickly.
Cost—If you live in a metropolitan area, for 2 days it usually works out to right around $4,800 including all travel expense. Less if you happen to be in Austin, Texas.
Here’s what a few FRx training clients say:
“All of the branch managers are ecstatic about being able to view a P&L that makes senses, integrates “Company X”, and most importantly provides drill down capability. If I hadn’t run across your blog, we’d still be in the dark ages and FRx would be sitting on the shelf. In our case, it’s not that we didn’t have the software, but we lacked the ability to hit the ground running with it. You provided that advantage and we thank you for it.”
—Peter Kos, Controller, Serck Services, Denver Colorado
“I just wanted to say thank you again for your help with my staff. We truly enjoyed the experience and are ecstatic at the amount we learned in just 2 days! ”
—Diane Rothery, Controller, The Blain Companies, Mt Olive Mississippi
“When she visited for a day of on site training, Jan was extremely professional and helpful. Her twelve years of experience with FRx was clearly evident. With Jan’s help and guidance, our reports today are streamlined and accurate. We enjoyed working with Jan and would highly recommend her.”
—Rick Givens, CFO Commonwealth Orthopaedics, Fairfax Virginia
“Thank you so much for the time you spent with me. I feel empowered! If you ever need a business reference, I’d be glad to give you a glowing one.”
—Karen Graham, Controller ATCO Rubber Products, Ft Worth Texas
“When Jan came out to our offices to help us with our specific requests, she was extremely organized and totally cognizant of our requirements and time-lines. She was able to help us eliminate some of our immediate pressures. We look forward to working with her again.”
—Nyla Barrett, Controller Interstate Oil Company, Sacramento California
“Jan’s expert knowledge of the FRx program helped us to keep our costs down as we only had to use her services for 2 1/2 days and the end results were exactly what we asked for. I would highly recommend Jan’s services for any FRx report writing.”
—Kathy Larson, Director of Finance Durham Western Heritage Museum, Omaha Nebraska
“You took several of my “that might not be possible” requests and found a way to make it happen.”
—Paul C., Treasurer Investment Company, Ft Worth Texas
