Export a group of FRx reports for backup or for import.
Spec Sets in FRx contain a particular grouping of rows, columns, trees, and catalogs. There’s one for the demo reports that are built into FRx. There’s at least one for your company unless of course you have a brand new implementation.
Exports are really good to use as a backup in a pinch. Or use them to send to me (or your own consultant) so that I can review your building blocks without logging in remotely. I won’t be able to see final reports, only the building blocks. So it’s not dangerous from a confidentiality perspective.
Here’s how:
1. In FRx, with all building blocks closed, choose Company menu, then Specification Sets
2. Highlight the spec set you’re using (it’s probably obvious, but if not, try ‘Default’)
3. Click the Export icon
4. On the Catalogs tab, choose the Select All button
5. ‘Mark Related Rows, Columns, and Trees’ should remain checked
6. Click Export button on bottom
7. Name the file and note location (or better yet, save to desktop)
8. The file generates quickly (watch the lower left corner) and without notice of completion
9. Close the spec set screen
You’re done, unless you’re emailing it on.
There’s also a way to use this screen to sort of ‘clean up’ a spec set, figuring out which pieces aren’t used any more. But I’ll save that for another day!
