Early news about FRx replacement
‘FRx’ is in quotes because we don’t know actually know the name for the new version yet (the one that will be a part of the new PerformancePoint), although we do know it won’t be called FRx anymore. For more information on what’s happening with the new version, read my prior two posts in this blog.
Meanwhile, I have a few more tidbits on what’s going on. FRx is owned by Microsoft, and Microsoft has four different ERP systems: Dynamics GP, SL, NAV, and AX (fka Great Plains, Solomon, Navision, and Axapta!)
What I’ve heard is that the new version of FRx (code name Sierra) will first integrate with Dynamics AX, formerly known as Axapta. There’s not a timeline yet for the integrations with the remaining three ERPs.
What about the forty-plus someodd non-Microsoft ERPs that FRx currently integrates with? FRx is getting each GL partner to work on their own link. The timeline will be totally dependent on the partner.
While the integrations are getting worked out, the current FRx 6.7 that you know (and love) will be supported indefinitely.
There may be some additional announcements coming in July.
In the meantime, since the current version doesn’t have any graphing capabilities, and the new one won’t for a good long while (SWAG maybe 2009-2010 timeframe), I’m going to work on creating some excel charts that will read a few standard FRx reports (customized for each system) to sort of give a charting experience (sales, GP, net, etc) to all who purchase. Technique is in one of the blog posts (search FRx and Excel for more on how-to.) More to come!
